|
|
Recently Linspire announced it would expand the CNR Service to support popular Linux distributions, including Debian, Fedora, Freespire, Linspire, OpenSUSE, and Ubuntu.
The article can be found here: http://www.linspire.com/lindows_news_pressreleases_archives.php?id=212
If the CNR development team was given zsplit and unzsplit 1.2.0 to enter in the CNR, I feel this would help promote the popularity of DeviceImage drastically.
jurij, would you agree to doing this ? What are your thoughts ?
I do not know what your goals are in developing and promoting DeviceImage. Just a thought........
regards,

Dear Sarah,
thank you very much for good news!
I think these both tools would be very helpful for the CNR service generally and/or for the linux-distribution in particular.
To make DeviceImage-Project more and more popular with a help of these both tools is absolutely one of my goals.
Therefore if this could be done, I would agree with entering of both tools as a part of DeviceImage-project in the CNR service.
The only wish which I have in this context is: the name of DeviceImage Project should always be mentioned and the link to the
project-site should be placed apart of it.
By the way You are the first person form the Open-Source community, who ask me about the including of DeviceImage-Tools
into some sort of other projects. Unfortunately other people are doing it without a feedback, so I can not have a complete
picture about were this Project is already in use.
Thanks again!
Regards,
Jurij |

I would of course prefer you the author of DeviceImage, to submit this to the "CNR" yourself. It would require you to be regiestered. You can register and submit DeviceImage to the CNR here:

If you would like me to do it, I would follow your request mentioned in the above quote. Just let me know.....................

Yes I would be more than happy to submit DeviceImage to the "CNR".
I do though wish to have you compose a description of DeviceImage as you would like to have it shown in the CNR. Examples can be found here: http://shop.linspire.com/votingbooth/user_voting.php
and then post it back here for me please !
I will do the rest, ....thanks again, sarah |

Sarah, I think this short description would be ok:
DeviceImage-Project is intended to work out the most reliable, flexible and easy to use software
solution to perform a system disaster recovery or fast backup-restore operations of whole disk
device or its partition. The first step in reaching of this goal is represented by two useful
command line tools zsplit and unzsplit.
ZSPLIT: A command line imager, which allows you to create an exact disk image.
UNZSPLIT: A command line restore tool. It restores files produced by zsplit to its origin.
Thanks for your help !

I have just completed nominating DeviceImage to the "CNR", right now it is on top of the list of software to be entered.
which can be reviewed here:
http://shop.linspire.com/votingbooth/user_voting.php?sort=rank&start=0
As time goes on, naturally it may be bumped off the number one spot, but that would not be uncommon.
Lets all hope the best for DeviceImage and getting it entered in the Linux CNR should be a big step forward.
regards,
sarah |
