when do you know that zsplit is finished?

i followed the instructions to backup over the network and everything seems to be working. ie. I look at the image and it keeps increasing in size consistent with the data transferred machine A to machine B.

However I let it run over night and now the file doesnt increase in size anymore and yet the zsplit and nc command at the source machine hasnt exited yet. I'm not suppose to control-C out of it am I?
